Trad na Samhna

Drogheda Comhaltas are organising a concert, “Trad na Samhna”, in the Barbican on Saturday 14th November at 8pm. “Trad na Samhna” will include musicians, singers and dancers from Louth and Meath together with the Leinster Youth Group of Comhaltas and All Ireland Button Key Accordion Champion, Michael Curran from Tyrone.
“If you are interested in Irish music this is a show not to be missed” said Noelle Bowe, PRO of Drogheda Comhaltas. “Irish traditional music is very much alive in Co. Louth and we are bringing together musicians of all ages from different parts of the county to showcase this”.
“Trad na Samhna” will feature groups of musicians from the two Comhaltas branches in Dundalk as well as pupils from Scoil Aonghusa, Scoil an Bhradáin Feasa and Music Generation Louth. Dancers from the Robinson School of Irish dancing will perform as will the Leinster Youth Group of Comhaltas. Members and music students from Drogheda Comhaltas have been preparing for “Trad na Samhna” for the last few weeks and there will be performances from over 40 members of the branch ranging in age from 7 to 82. Also performing on the show are Michael Curran, All Ireland Accordion Champion and Champion Irish Dancer, Orla Brannigan who have just returned from a tour of North America with Echoes of Erin, the Comhaltas Tour Group. “We are really looking forward to this show” added Noelle. “The President of Comhaltas, Ann Finnegan, will be in attendance as will the Chairman of the Leinster Council of Comhaltas, Sean O’Laoire who will act as as Fear an Tí for the night”.
