Remembering the 1922 Escape from Dundalk Gaol with words & music.

About this event Dundalk Gaol housed patriots, paupers, volunteers, agitators, smugglers and petty thieves whilst witnessing secret weddings, executions and daring escapes.

Once such escape took place a hundred years ago at Dundalk Gaol, where one hundred and five prisoners ( mostly members of the Fourth Northern Division and their commander Frank Aiken) were freed following a bombing of the boundary wall on the Ardee Rd.

The Oriel Centre Dundalk Gaol celebrates its history alongside family members of the former escapees through its unique cultural expression of traditional music, song and dance- with some inputs along the way!

Tickets available at Remembering the 1922 Escape from Dundalk Gaol with words & music.
